About California Karen Youth Connection

Vision: We envision a world where youth will be tomorrow’s leaders. Mission: To develop Karen youth and young adults to be equal partners in contributing to positive changes to society, and to be strong leaders in the State of California, the Nation, and abroad through quality training of education, empowerment, and advocacy. Organization Strategic Priorities: Bring together Karen youth and other ethnic youths across the State of California at the Annual Summer Leadership Conference to inspire each other through sharing their stories, discovering their potentials, and bringing positive changes to the community. Provide and create a space for all youth to learn and grow into healthy and vibrant adults as well as to celebrate their roots enriching the multicultural diversity of California. Educate the youth to be strong, independent and self-sufficient through a series of workshops including professional development, leadership development, financial literacy, advocacy skills, lobbying training, Karen language and others. Provide ongoing support and mentorship with the college application process, scholarship opportunities, and career opportunities so they can be well informed and equipped with their future success. Inform and update youth about domestic and foreign political topics, legislations, and laws through monthly political affairs updates. Partner with other non-profit organizations nation-wide, local, state, and federal government agencies to acquire funding and support for our work.
