About Cambridge Pro Bono Project
Since its inauguration in 2010, the Cambridge Pro Bono Project (CPP) has partnered with dozens of bodies, including NGOs, charities, barristers’ chambers and courts, to produce research targeted at a range of public interest matters. The CPP is a research centre, not a legal clinic. It works on a model which draws on the subject-matter expertise of graduate doctoral researchers, and Faculty experts, to produce reports on a wide range of public interest matters, including in the fields of public international law, criminal law, and domestic British public law. The CPP’s research is usually presented in the form of a research report. The three core objectives of the CPP are: 1. To provide postgraduate students with an opportunity to engage with the law in a practical way, and to develop the skills and values central to the provision of pro bono legal work; 2. To provide an avenue for the Faculty of Law to make a meaningful and practical contribution to public interest law; and 3. To facilitate collaboration between the Faculty of Law and legal practitioners and organisations undertaking legal work in a pro bono capacity. To these ends, we welcome project submissions from individuals and organisations undertaking public interest work in a pro bono capacity.
