At the Canada Foundation For Research (CFFR), we are committed to advancing public health by funding innovative research that addresses critical healthcare challenges. Founded by Dr. Geoff Fernie, a visionary honored with the Order of Canada, Order of Ontario, and Terry Fox Hall of Fame, CFFR focuses on practical, technology-driven solutions to prevent infectious diseases, injuries, and chronic conditions. With over 175 publications and nearly 50 patents, Dr. Fernie’s work has led to multiple companies and transformative healthcare technologies. Currently, we aim to fund three programs: 1. SHIELD Program: The Strategic Health Initiative for Epidemic and Infectious Disease Prevention Program targets infection prevention, particularly in hospitals. 2. REPAIR Program: The Research for Effective Prevention And Injury Rehabilitation Program enhances mobility and independence for the elderly. 3. AGE Program: The Advanced Geriatric Empowerment Program focuses on preventive measures for chronic diseases and cognitive health. How to get involved?
