Imagine a life with limited movement, living in isolation, coping with debilitating pain every hour of every day. Some estimates are that 90% of Canadians will require orthopaedic (bone and joint) treatment at some point in their lives, for conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, trauma and birth deformities such as clubfoot. Through funding research and patient education, the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation helps people dealing with bone and joint disorders understand their conditions and prepare for their best possible treatment outcomes. Founded in 1965, the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation is a national registered charity powered by a professional staff and network of over 300 volunteers. The Foundation is Canada's only health charity dedicated solely to helping people maintain and restore their bone and joint, or orthopaedic, health. As a national charity, we are committed to investing into local communities across the country. We do this by providing hospital grants that help to improve patient care, by funding local researchers and by delivering free patient resources to hospitals nationally. Below are just some of the ways we have helped to improve the lives of people over the years: Funded close to $1 million in research grants Funded approximately $10 million in community grants in more than 61 regions across the country. Provided surgeons and hospitals with patient booklets reaching more than 200,000 Canadians Offered peer support to many of the tens of thousands of people on the wait list for surgery
