About Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association

Founded in 1991, the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association (CPVA) is a national, apolitical, all Veteran, and all volunteer non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to be a strong and leading advocate for all Veterans. We are currently celebrating 2023 as the Year of the Peacekeeping Veteran, to commemorate 75 years of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping, and the 35th anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize for UN Peacekeepers. With the support of Veterans Affairs Canada and other partners, CPVA is developing PK75: Stories of Canadian Peacekeepers, a digital, bilingual publication that focuses on Canada’s historic contributions to peacekeeping through the eyes of more than 120 Canadian peacekeepers. It offers personal biographies, anecdotes, and photos of those who brought light to the darkest of places, pushed hope and promise into the divide between combating forces, and aided the victims of conflict – all in the service of peace. We invite you to view the 1st edition of PK75, currently available on the CPVA website, with the 2nd edition currently being developed to provide the foundation of a broader learning resource package. To be distributed freely to all schools across Canada in time for use during Remembrance Week, it will assist teachers in educating young people about Canada’s long standing contribution to peacekeeping.
