About Canadian Poultry Research Council / Le Conseil De Recherches Avicoles Du Canada
The creation of the Canadian Poultry Research Council (CPRC) follows the recommendation of a report commissioned by the Canadian Agri-food Research Council and the Canada Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association. This report assessed the needs and resources of Canada’s poultry sector with respect to research, education and technology transfer. It also documented the rapid erosion of both human and physical resources and the loss of federal funding for poultry research. In response to the concerns and recommendations outlined, the four national feather boards and the Canadian Poultry and Egg Processors Council (CPEPC) met to discuss the need for a national organization devoted to addressing national poultry research concerns. Ultimately, in November 2001, the CPRC was formally established. CPRC’s mission is to address its Members’ needs through dynamic leadership in the creation and implementation of programs for poultry research in Canada, which may also include societal concerns. This mission focuses on: - The coordination and enhancement of a more efficient Canadian poultry research effort, - Securing additional and matching funding, - Facilitating the establishment of national poultry research priorities.
