About Cancer Active
Throwing Bones works hard to make a difference in the blood cancer community. We do this by holding these six key values: Awareness Community Persistence Service Patient-Focused Movement Our mission is to educate and advocate for individuals living with cancer to improve the quality of life through healthy and active lifestyles. Through education, events, support groups, etc we strive to make individuals cancer active so they can #keepmovingforward. Our 2023 projects include: Develop a patient assessment and coaching portal accessible to patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers. Revitalize Cancer Active Self-Assessment video series by creating new videos, processes, and support to provide a free resource for patients to complete their own assessment in a thorough and impactful way. Host 6 education panels that bring team members together in a collaborative virtual space, from different specialties to focus on the needs of the patient. Specialists include, but are not limited to oncologists, physical therapists, nutritionists, dietitians, and mental health professionals. Focus on patient advocacy by getting in the right rooms at the right tables to not only advocate for blood cancer patients, but expand awareness and in turn be able to more extensively support the patients in our community.
