About Cancervive Ride

Cancervive is a survivor-driven initiative that was established in response to the dire need for Cancer awareness and education among South Africans. This special campaign is a project of the umbrella organisation People Living with Cancer and has achieved acclaim as one of the most dynamic cancer awareness campaigns in the world. What we do The Cancervive initiative operates throughout the year to educate thousands of South Africans about Cancer and also to support those affected by the disease. We achieve this through a multitude of creative awareness campaigns, informative educational events, clinic and hospital visits, and our flagship event – the annual Cancervive Awareness Ride. Since its launch in 2011 our ride has: • Reached more than 190 000 people and aims to hit the quarter million mark within the next two years! • Travelled a staggering distance of over 16 000 kilometres –almost half way around the world! • Spread the message across all nine provinces. • Painted all seven colours of the rainbow as we delivered our colourful message of hope in seven of South Africa’s official languages. • Generated R160 million in publicity. • Received international acclaim as an organisation with a model that truly works and saves lives! Apart from this flagship ride, Cancervive continues to raise awareness, educate and support approximately 25 000 people, face-to-face, each year – that’s enough to fill nearly 2000 minibus taxi’s! Our phenomenal growth is evident as in 2016 we were able to reach a staggering 34 161 people with 58 events!
