Why am I running? Today, we face a fiscal crisis nationally as well as in Texas. The role of government at all levels must be examined to ensure that tax dollars are being spent on items or services that are the obligations and responsibilities that level of government has been entrusted to provide. I believe it is healthy to have someone that has not been actively involved in the daily governing of the city for years to become involved in the process, bringing a fresh perspective With the decline in revenue from sales and property taxes that has already taken place and the likelihood that this trend will almost certainly continue for at least the next year, it will be a tremendous benefit to have an outsider with conservative principles review how our tax dollars are being spent and to consider alternate solutions to improve the economic situation in our city. Elected officials and government employees must remember that they serve the people. Ensuring a transparent, citizen friendly environment is a crucial aspect that can so easily be overlooked. New ideas, expertise and passion from our fellow citizens can assist in finding and refining solutions to problems. I will strive to involve residents in the process in more ways than have been available before.
