Candlelighters is an independent, non-profit 501c3 charity providing support, education and family assistance to children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders. Established in 1983, the Candlelighters continue to be a vital source of inspiration to families dealing with a life threatening and frightening disease. Candlelighters believe a family survives cancer intact when they can communicate with people in similar circumstances. It is because of this need, Candlelighters host many events to reach out to these special families. The funds we raise provide opportunities to participate in arts and craft sessions; partake in pizza parties, attend holiday gatherings, no more chemo celebrations, sports events, theatre and more all at no cost to the family. In order to create these memorable times and others, Candlelighters reaches out to the private sector for donations, applies for grants and organizes two successful fundraising events each year. In the Spring, what could be more fashionable than hosting the Annual Step Into Spring Fashion Show & Luncheon, a popular event that continues to sell out each year. Additionally, our supporters get into the swing of things at the Candlelighters Gold Ribbon Classic Golf Tournament played in late summer. Golfers tee off at some of Southwest Florida's most prestigious private golf courses. We're proud of our accomplishments at Candlelighters and will continue to be there for the families we serve "because kids can't fight cancer alone!"tm
