About CANELA
CANELA (Confederación Académica Nipona, Española y Latinoamericana) is a Japanese association of scholars, teachers, researchers and public at large engaged in studying the society, culture, thought, History and languages of Spain and Latin America and their links with Japan. Founded in 1988 by Pedro Simón, Vice-Chancellor of Nanzan University, CANELA comprises four study sections: Literature, Thought and History, Pedagogy of Spanish as a Foreign Language, and Linguistics. The association organises a conference in May each year and publishes the academic journal Cuadernos Canela. This is the only association of its kind in Japan which conducts all its activities in Spanish.
