About Canopy Weather

Founded in 2019 by Don Giuliano and Matt Van Every, who previously co-founded Weather Fusion and sold it to CoreLogic in 2014, our company was born from a desire to go beyond providing just hail data. Our focus is exclusively on weather perils that affect roofs: hail, wind, and tornadoes. Using a human-in-the-loop approach, we combine advanced technology with expert insights to ensure accuracy and reliability. Our mission is clear: to provide a forensic view of what the weather actually did, helping our clients make unbiased, consistent decisions with confidence. We primarily serve the insurance industry, working with market-leading primary insurers, reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, and MGA/MGUs. Additionally, our data supports governmental disaster response efforts, with FEMA utilizing it to trim days—even weeks—off effective tornado responses. Our impact extends to storm restoration through partnerships with our sister company Hailtrace. Notably, FEMA uses our data in White House briefings, reinforcing the critical role we play in disaster management.
