About Cantine PROVIMA
Cantine PRO.VI.MA. (acronym of Vine growers of Matelica) is a wine cooperative, located in Matelica (MC) inland le Marche Region, has been producing wine since 1932. It’s the oldest winery of Matelica, consists of over 80 vine growers and manages about 130 hectares of specialized vineyards. All wines are totally produced and bottled in the ancient winery. Matelica area (average altitude 350 m a.s.l.) is characterized by a narrow stretch of land between two mountains, with the composition of its terrain varying greatly from sandy and clay-filled for the mediumheight hill to the skeletal limestone typical of the taller hill. The microclimate is continental-like, with cold winters and hot summers, distinguished by an elevated range temperature between day and night. Over bulk wine, from 2010 it has been started a production of bottled wine with a yearly production of over 200.000 bottles. The main typology we produce is white wine from the autochthonous grape variety Verdicchio. Verdicchio di Matelica DOC is vinified in a very different styles: from the classic youngest version to the aged fine wines (DOCG). In the Matelica terroir is also possible to obtain a full-bodied red wines from Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. In the 2014 we have created the new brand LAMELIA (www.lameliavini.it) to promote a modern style for wines produced in the unique terroir of Matelica. From 2017 vintage it has been introduced the gamma of organic wines. What sets us apart is the attention given to enhancing the Verdicchio grape, utilising modern technologies whilst respecting tradition, to convey sensory complexity through different wine-making styles. We closely oversee the entire production process, from the vineyard to the bottle, so as to guarantee the best expression of the Verdicchio di Matelica.
