About CapaCare

CapaCare is a medical humanitarian organisation with a purpose of capacity building and training of medical staff, in areas health workers are too few. The organisation started in 2008 as Friends of Masanga in Norway, with the aim of rebuilding Masanga Hospital in Tonkolili District in Sierra Leone. In July 2011 we transformed the organiation to CapaCare, and relocated the base to St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim. CapaCare’s main activity is a trainingproject in Sierra Leone – Surgical Training Program. We train young doctors and CHO’s to be able to handle the most common surgical diseases and traumas. In Sierra Leone it was in 2008 less than 10 surgeons to serve a population of 5,7 millions. By training 29 young doctors and CHO CapaCare will dramatically increase the surgical trained staff nationwide.
