About Capital Enterprises
Capital Pizza Huts has been in operation since the 1980's. Currently we operate 86 restaurants in New Jersey, Maine, Tennessee, Virginia, New Hampshire, Vermont and North Carolina. Capital Pizza Huts is an equal opportunity employer and provides a small company atmosphere with the benefits of a large organization. Our team members have ongoing opportunities to learn, grow and undertake new challenges. The first Pizza Hut was opened in 1958 by Dan Carney and his brother in their home town of Wichita, Kansas. First they borrowed $600 from their mother. Then they bought some second-hand equipment and rented a small hut-shaped building. After putting the word "pizza" on the sign, they only had room for three more letters. Thus, the name "Pizza Hut" was born. In 1967, Wichita resident Ken Wagnon and some friends met the Carney brothers and decided that this Pizza Hut business might be something they would like to try. If they worked diligently, they thought, they might be able to open as many as five restaurants. By 1972, Pizza Hut, Inc. was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and had more than 1,000 restaurants. Today there are over 6,600 Pizza Hut restaurants in the United States!
