About Cappel's Inc
Cappel’s provides fun! We offer people opportunities to get more enjoyment by using decorations, party supplies, costumes and accessories to turn an ordinary meeting or get together into a memorable event! The world of retail is constantly evolving. Due to long-term relationships with employees, customers, and vendors, our local, family-owned and operated business continues to grow in new directions that coincide with the changing market and align with customer feedback. William and Urban Cappel began Cappel Display Company in 1945, trading their butcher shop to become a supplier of display fixtures for department and other retail stores. Because of its location near WLW-TV, customers occasionally stopped by after visiting one of the live local TV shows, such as Ruth Lyons 50-50 Club, The Paul Dixon Show and Bob Braun's 50-50 Club or one of the major department stores downtown. Over the years these guests made frequent trips to Cappel's, at first especially at Christmastime. Gradually, based on customer needs, retail trade became a primary focus. Today, Halloween through New Year’s Eve is the premier season for us. At any time of year, however, people bring cheer to any occasion with our products. We often hear stories of how a balloon bouquet or novelty delighted the hearts of friends, family, or coworkers or how decorations from Cappel’s were perfect for a festive atmosphere. In the early 1980's, Halloween costumes, wigs & makeup were introduced to the product mix on a seasonal basis. Today, Cappel's has five year-'round retail locations, an inventory of more than 50,000 items, and active website, and many loyal customers who return for the depth of our product line and the lure of good price. We are thankful for the loyalty of our customers, and hope to continue to provide a great selection of many seasonal, every-day, and hard-to-find products.
