About Cardiff Rocket Labs
The CRL Propulsion Team successfully designed and fired Wales' first student-built rocket engine - Bowser. It was hot-fired at the Race 2 Space 2025 competition, outperforming all original goals. Bowser won the R2S Hybrid Rocket Engine category and also completed the longest burn of the competition. The propulsion team are now working on more advanced and powerful liquid engines for the future. The CRL Flight Team successfully launched and recovered their first rocket at the Mach 2025 competition, including carbon fibre fins and many onboard electrical systems. The flight team is now designing a larger rocket for future launch.
