About Care Package Inbound

Care Package Inbound is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the purpose of delivering hope to all people through compassion, support, and love for the foster community. Located in Kansas City, we focus our programs on supporting the foster care system in the greater Kansas City area. Care Package Inbound was founded in 2019 and publicly launched in 2021 with the goal of providing a few care packages to youth entering the foster care system. We have grown to a multitude of programs to improve the current foster care system experience from our care packages to a free foster clothing closet to a fostering independence program to educate aging out foster youth on important subjects. Our main program is our care packages where we provide youth entering the foster care system a bag of essentials to help their transition be a bit smoother. This transition is stressful enough already, and many youth enter the system with few belongings or even just the clothes they are wearing. We aim to improve the experience for the youth by providing them a new set of clothes, personal hygiene items, and comfort items such as a blanket in a backpack assembled by volunteers. We are also currently developing a foster clothing and hygiene closet where we will provide foster youth and aged out foster youth new and gently used clothing items along with a variety of hygiene items. We understand the care packages are a good fix temporarily, but the closet aims to provide assistance on a more long-term basis as the youth get settled into their new home or as aged out foster youth are learning to navigate life.
