In 1996 Barbara Macleod established Carealot Home Health Services Pty Ltd in Perth to take advantage of the growing trend towards home health care by providing a personalises, flexible, complete family support service in the comfort of home. Since then, the company has evolved into a leader in the provision of home care services to the senior communities in West Australian. Barbara attributes Carealot’s ongoing success to a simple explanation for employee’s to remember: “To treat each person with the same dignity, respect and love offered to a close friend or relative.” Consumers and/or third party purchasers of services include local councils,Government Departments (Social Services, Health and Ageing, Veteran Affairs, numerous, NPO and For Profit groups, Religion based organisations and private payers. In 1998, Barbara was the Australian winner of the “Telstra Business Woman of the Year” award and in Year 2000 inducted into the Australian Business Women’s Hall of Fame.
