I'm Maria José (MJ for short)! I am a first-generation Centro Americana Latina professional working in higher education as a counselor and adjunct faculty supporting individuals as they work to achieve their academic and career goals. As a fellow Career Counselor and Societal Educator, my personal promise is to create a positive impact so we can all build and grow our CareerConfidence. Proudly carrying the identity of a first-generation Latina undergraduate, graduate, and now professional, navigating higher education presented various intersecting challenges, and I found myself battling one after another. My path to academic and career success was nothing like I would have imagined, but my experiences fuel my passion for serving and giving back to my communities. I strongly believe each individual deserves a fair and equal opportunity to academic and career success. For this is one of the pillars CareerConfidence was built on, to live out my passion as a higher education professional and societal educator who is wholeheartedly dedicated to serving all those who seek career guidance to achieve their career and life goals.
