About Carers First
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness, substance misuse issue, or who needs extra help as they grow older. Carers First works directly with and for, unpaid carers to provide personalised information and advice. Registration is free and whatever their circumstance, Carers First offers services to support carers at every stage of their caring journey. The charity is commissioned to deliverCarerSupport services for Lincolnshire, Essex, Medway and London Boroughs Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest and Haringey. In order to ensurecarershave everything they need to fulfil their caringrole,our team provides advice on potential support available such ascarersallowance andcarersassessment. We work withcarersto identify the best way forward for them as individuals, and support them with practicaland helpfulinformation on employment issues, how to access respite, as well as helping to navigate sensitive conversations with GP’s, hospitals and social care professionals.
