About Carleton University Debating Society
We are a student-run intercollegiate debating team at Carleton University. Made to foster open-minded and friendly discussion among students, the Carleton University Debating Society (CUDS) hosts regular practices, social gatherings and events with other Carleton University groups and local debating teams. Since its inception in 2001, CUDS has held a strong presence in the Carleton, Ottawa and intercollegiate debate community. Notably, we frequently travel to tournaments hosted by other debate teams. We also host our annual intercollegiate tournament, Dorchester, as well as our annual secondary-level tournament, Xerxes. We accept debaters of all levels, from beginners to experts. Our club prides itself on fostering a welcoming environment suited for skill development and community-building. CUDS is a member of the Carleton University Students Association (CUSA) and the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debating (CUSID).
