About Carnegie Mellon University's Information Networking Institute
The INI was created in 1989 in response to a need from industry to combine the fields of computer science and communications engineering. Driven by our spirit of innovation, we continue to prepare exceptional graduates through engineering master’s programs in information networking, information security, artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile and Internet of Things (IoT). These customizable programs hone deep technical knowledge in engineering and computer science while advancing interdisciplinary skills in business, management, policy and ethics. Our strength in information networking and systems engineering is matched by our expertise in information security, which has earned national recognition through our designation as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity. With our expansive network of nearly 3,000 alumni at tech startups, government agencies and top companies across the globe, our inclusive community provides a pathway to success at the INI and beyond.
