About CarobWay
CarobWay, the food, and agri-tech startup, was founded to bring carob - the sustainable super-crop - to life. CarobWay is an inspiration in striving to live in harmony with planet Earth and its inhabitants. Under the rising threat of climate change, CarobWay promotes resilience – with acclimatized carob crops native to their Israeli growing region. Carob was largely ignored for centuries, but where predecessors saw carob trees as shade providers, CarobWay saw a treasure with hidden gems. This is how CarobWay embarked on its journey. CarobWay is reintroducing this climate-resilient superfood worldwide, including its proprietary carob ingredients. The company is unique in that it takes advantage of the entire fruit (seeds and pulp) – producing 15 different products, including traditional locust bean gum, fibers, protein and polyphenols, as well as innovative compounds for the food, nutrition and the cosmetics industries based on clinical studies and science-backed research. This food-tech pioneer integrates the best of all worlds – traditional agriculture with state-of-the-art cultivation technologies, innovative development and ultramodern processing. Under its agreement with Israel’s forestry organization, Keren Kayemet L’Israel (KKL), CarobWay currently harvests carob from a number of forests in Israel to conduct research and analyze the best varieties and growing conditions in Israel. Armed with these insights, CarobWay is working to bridge the ever-growing gap in worldwide supply, planting wide-area orchards in key locations. CarobWay cultivation strategies use minimal water, conserve power and apply mechanized harvesting methods. Solar-based processing and other energy-saving approaches demonstrate CarobWay commitment to protecting Earth. Forging partnerships for generations to come, CarobWay has joined with community farmers – cultivating seeds into saplings and saplings into trees that will provide livelihoods and nourish the region.
