About Carry The Load
Carry The Load is a non-profit organization that exists to preserve the sanctity of Memorial Day through community gatherings and storytelling to unite Americans in appreciation for the sacrifices made by a few who carried the load for all. What started in 2011 as a grassroots effort by two veteran U.S. Navy SEALs has now grown into a nationwide movement with people honoring and remembering our nation’s heroes throughout the year. Our core programs include Awareness, Continuum of Care, and Education ✔️ Awareness: We strive to raise awareness for the true meaning of Memorial Day. During Memorial May, we invite people of all ages to walk in the National Relay, attend Community Events, join the Dallas Memorial March, and fundraise for our heroes. Beyond May, we host events on Patriot Day, Veterans Day, and more. ✔️ Continuum of Care: We collaborate with corporate and non-profit partners to raise awareness and funds that assist with the many challenges facing our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Peer-to-peer fundraising goes toward strengthening nationwide services, including counseling, adaptive training, suicide prevention, job placements, equine therapy, service dogs, and more. ✔️ Education: Carry The Flag is our youth education program that makes learning about patriotism accessible and fun. For years, we have been supporting communities, schools, and youth groups by offering resources for leaders to encourage community service and teach about everyday heroes for military, veterans, and first responders.
