About Casa Clara

We respectfully harvest what the land has to offer and with passion and skill we unveil the best that nature has afforded us! Casa Clara was born from the inventiveness, wisdom and accumulated experience of its partners. Clara, after whom our house is named, has decades of experience working in wine in the Alentejo: she is our cornerstone and is still involved in the daily work of our company. Our family’s history and legacy have naturally led us to form a company with the objective of producing, in Alentejo, wines based on authenticity, quality and sustainability. Both our properties are based in the heart of the Alentejo. At Herdade da Capela (in sub-region of Moura) and Quinta de D. Maria (in sub-region of Vidigueira), we harvest the grapes and pick the olives from which we produce our wines and olive oil. Our logo, the cross, the names and the labels of our wines (Capela, Monte da Capela and Herdade da Capela) are all inspired by the chapel located in the middle of the vineyards. The brands were created with the size of the locations in mind. Capela (Chapel is the entry level brand), Monte da Capela (The Chapel's Hill is our mid-range) and Herdade da Capela (Chapel's Vineyards being the top range). All these wines embody who we are and what we do best. From the olives of our trees at Quinta de D. Maria, we produce olive oil. It will always be a limited production, as the fruit is obtained exclusively from the existing indigenous varieties in our olive groves that are over 25 years old. They are cultivated in line with sustainable production methods and with great respect for the Alentejo traditions. Casa Clara will soon be complete with a wine tourism element. This project will unite landscape, architecture and culture.
