About CASA HOGAR Germany

CASA HOGAR Deutschland e.V. is a non-profit organization. Since 2015, as a steadily growing German-Colombian NGDO with full-time staff in Germany and Colombia, as well as around 120 volunteers in both countries, with a focus on education for girls and women, we promote sustainable and peaceful social change in the Colombian crisis region of Chocó. With over 40 projects, CASA HOGAR has reached over 38,000 people in Chocó. The core elements of our work are a boarding house for schoolgirls, one for university students, and a shelter for women who have experienced violence. Through the provision of safe spaces and general educational offerings, girls and women - protected from violence, (sexual) exploitation, and recruitment by illegal groups - gain access to education and personal development. They learn to stand up for themselves and for a peaceful, appreciative society with self-determination and confidence. Furthermore, the goal of the currently largest project is to expand the schoolgirl boarding house into a living and meeting place co-designed with indigenous and Afro-Colombian girls for 50 girls and young women, as well as the entire community of San Juan (approx. 100,000 inhabitants). A characteristic feature of our German public relations work is the organization of benefit concerts, most recently at the Cologne Philharmonic.
