The cultural world is in the throes of a transition. This prompts us to ask ourselves the fundamental question: do we just look at the future or do we also help shape it? We have resolutely chosen the second option! We will strengthen our basic premise, our House of Music with concert series. At the same time we also wish to reinterpret the concept of orchestra. We will maintain the traditional projects but will also add risky and visionary proposals in the framework of a new concept. Our aim is to evolve into a music workshop where experiment across all the art forms is combined with the traditional practice. At the same time this house is a place which welcomes people encountering classical music for the first time. In so doing, we respect that everyone should have access to art and culture. Our identity is defined by the constant communication which we wish to achieve with the public. It’s up to us to identify with this influence, or oppose it, so we can truly become a part of society. Our workshop is made up of a stable pool of about 35 musicians, which is expanded or reduced depending on the project. This allows us to share our experience, but we are also happy to cross borders. The orchestra as an institution can no longer be an obstacle to creativity: At the heart of our activities is the artistic idea, the form around this idea can change. Our renewed mission statement requires a new framework and a name which accurately translates this new identity. All the ideas are incorporated in a rough, unfinished basic framework, before we polish and grind them down to unique entities. We have found a magnificent structure in which we can do this. We are like the shell (casco in Dutch) of a house, in which new and continuously changing projects can exist and develop. Our logo will also be a shell frame, which we (or you) can continuously reinterpret. We are a Creative, Adventurous, Socially-committed, Cultural Organisation. Welcome to Casco Phil.
