About Castings

castings sa is the official journal of the South African Institute of Foundrymen (SAIF) and is involved in the dissemination of information for, and the promotion of the science and technology of metal melting, manufacturing and using castings. Readers include foundrymen, castings engineers, tool and die makers, component manufacturers, castings users, automotive suppliers, heat treatment companies, patternmakers, suppliers to the industry and related industrypersonnel and fraternal associations. These include the South African Stainless Steel Development Association, National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers and the Aluminium Federation of South Africa. This alternate monthly journal keeps the industry abreast of new technologies in the form of technical papers sourced locally and from abroad. At the same time it reports on all the equipment and processes linked to the casting industry. Institute and industry news is also included along with a Metal Prices Guide and a Calendar of worldwide exhibitions, conferences and meetings. Regular columns included in every issue are: Industry News, a Technical Paper, International News, SAIF News and Product Review.
