WHY NOW: In today’s economic environment, there is a pressing need for an investment fund that can outperform inflation, preserving purchasing power, while defending capital in down markets. In our decades of investment experience, we have never seen so many factors disrupting traditional business models all at the same time. The headlines are powerful and obvious: inflation, interest rates, geopolitical turmoil, and rapid AI innovations. These trends are creating both upside and downside opportunities to achieve great returns. WHY US: My partner, Ellen Adams, and I have invested together for over 25 years through many business environments, including during significant periods of economic and market turmoil. We produced an extraordinary track record while managing our previous fund, CastleRock Partners, L.P. before winding down the partnership for personal reasons: 1. 16.8% annualized gross and 12.5% net for 14 years versus 3.7% for the S&P 500 over the same period. Half of our outperformance resulted from outstanding stock selection, with many multi-year long-term winners in the portfolio. The other half of our outperformance came from preserving capital in major market declines. (Please see the below chart showing the fund’s outperformance during market corrections.) We have put a lot of thought into architecting a fund to take advantage of a market and economic environment that most people have never experienced. Our prior record was built in a volatile market environment during which the market indices were flat for 10 years, and where our risk processes were very much stress-tested in real-time. Our goal, and we believe our value added to our investors, is to outperform the S&P 500 by at least 500 basis points annualized net of all fees while controlling risk.
