About Catholic Blind Institute
Catholic Blind Institute was established as a Charity in Liverpool in 1841. We currently run St Vincent's School, a specialist school for sensory impairment and other needs and Christopher Grange, a 106 bedded residential and nursing home, which includes the Sight Loss Learning Hub for adults who develop visual impairment in later life to learn new skills. Our aim is to provide an environment in which our children, young people and adults are enabled to achieve a life of fulfilment, security and dignity, irrespective of disability, infirmity or age. Who benefits from our work? - Children and young people from 4-19 years of age, who have a visual impairment and possibly other disabilities benefit from specialist education and care provided at St Vincent’s School. Other children in this age range are supported in mainstream schools and through independent mobility training. - Those who lose their sight or suffer sight problems as adults benefit from the services provided and the facilities available in our Sight Loss Learning Hub. - Older adults, with or without a vision impairment, benefit from access to our specialist care home which includes a 28-bedded nursing unit. - Families, friends and carers of beneficiaries benefit from the reassurance provided by the high quality care and services we deliver on a daily basis.
