About Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas
Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas, a member of Catholic Charities USA, has provided services for people in need since 1965. Our mission is to honor human potential through service, advocacy and invitation, in the spirit of the Gospel so that every person can experience hope and fulfillment. With offices in Dodge City, Garden City and Great Bend, our agency provides a range of social services that are designed to strengthen and empower individuals, families and communities throughout the 28 counties of southwest Kansas. We do this through direct service, cooperating agencies, and by providing support for parish social ministry. Some of our direct services include: Assessment, counseling, education, assistance and support for couples who want to, or who have already adopted a child. Pregnancy support services for women and couples so that they know their options and can make well-informed decisions for themselves and their baby in the event of an unintended pregnancy. A Teen Mom's Program which helps very young mothers finish school, make good decisions, accomplish goals, and be self-sufficient. Marriage education classes to strengthen couples and families. Reunification assistance for adoptees and birth parents. Counseling for individuals and families who struggle with addiction, mental health, or the grief of an abortion. Counseling for individuals and families who need help securing economic assistance for food, cash, medical care, and child care. Emergency assistance for individuals and families who are not able to make ends meet. Economic assistance in the event of a tornado or other disaster. Training for healthcare and counseling professionals across the state of Kansas so that they feel confident to discuss the option of infant adoption with women who are pregnant.
