About Cavendish Cancer Care
Since 1991, we’ve been there for people across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. From our centre at 34 Wilkinson Street, we offer free of charge support to people who need us. Imagine you have just come out of the hospital after your first consultation of being told you have cancer. Who would you talk to? Would you pick up the phone to a loved one or friend, but not want to worry them? Or would you sit quietly and try to deal with this news yourself? That’s what we are here for, to support you and your family, whoever needs a bit of help along the way. We are a local charity based in Sheffield and the city region which supports people with the effects that cancer has on their mental health and emotional wellbeing. A cancer diagnosis has a huge impact on patients and their families. The doctors and hospitals do an amazing job on the medical side and in treating the disease. Where we step in is in treating the person and how they’re feeling inside. You could say we do the human stuff. As a charity, we offer free of charge counselling and therapies such as reflexology, shiatsu, and relaxation, to help people to come to terms with what is happening to them or their loved one. We rely almost entirely on the generous support of volunteers, fundraisers and donors. The runners, bakers, party-makers and bucket-shakers. We receive a small amount of NHS funding but this only covers the cost of keeping our doors open for two weeks.
