About CCSA Foundation
OUR MISSION The mission of CCSA Foundation is to support Chester Charter Scholars Academy (CCSA), an arts-integrated, academically rigorous, non-profit public charter school in the Chester Upland School District. CCSA serves educationally underserved children in kindergarten through 12th grade. OUR VISION The vision of CCSA Foundation is to provide the children and youth of Chester with exceptional opportunities for learning and success, which will in turn allow Chester to rejuvenate as an economic and artistic hub in Delaware County. Our vision is not only to provide opportunities to the children who attend our school, but also to impact the public school system within Chester for the better through shared knowledge, ideas, and educational resources for the benefit of all Chester’s children. ABOUT OUR SCHOOL Founded in 2012, The Chester Charter School for the Arts is the highest-performing free, public school in the Chester Upland School District. Admission is open to all Chester residents, including those with special needs and English language learners. Students are admitted by lottery held each March with special preference given to siblings. Across the school, 89% of students are from low-income households and 12% are special needs students. 98% of CCSA students are African American. Authorized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, CCSA is able to operate with greater independence than traditional district public schools, but is held strictly accountable to the state for student performance. Every five years, a charter school is subject to a review that determines if the school will continue to operate.
