The gift you give someone reveals a great deal about who you are. Growing up, I never was allowed to be ungrateful. My mother put those values in me young. She’d worked hard to provide a life for me, her only child. I was not spoiled. & she made sure I was not selfish. Whether or not she could afford to spoil me, the valuable lesson I received is it’s literally the thought that counts not the amount. From that, I learned how to be a thoughtful gift-giver & a generous giver. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed celebrating/spoiling my mom. It’s the reaction of surprising her with a present that she didn’t see coming. Or the celebration my best friend had no idea I was planning. OR being asked to host a party because they know I will not disappoint in planning. What I didn’t know was, from all of my thoughtfulness, I became someone that’s hard to surprise or shop for. When it comes to celebrating me, my friends & family are intimidated. I found this out for my 40th bday. When they all asked how I wanted to celebrate or what I wanted, but low key I honestly didn’t know how to answer. I truly hoped to be surprised lol I finally decided I’d empty out the shopping carts I’d built up during the pandemic & put it into a registry. That is when I heard every family or friend say they were relieved I gave them some idea of what I wanted! I had no idea I was this person, as I always thought of myself as simple or easy lol The idea that brought me to create Celebrate Me, stems from all of the above, in hopes that this platform not only helps the person who wants to celebrate, but also the people who want to celebrate them.
