About Celluol
Celluol is a spinoff from the Toulouse Biotechnology Institute, our mission is to produce sustainable carbon negative fuels and chemicals. We aim to do this via two unique approaches 1) by transforming the way waste biomass such as agricultural residues are converted into fuel and 2) by integrating our technology at existing corn/sugarcane ethanol plants. We transform the way waste biomass is converted to fuel using our unique biocatalyst - which has been engineered to be able to directly convert agricultural residues and other cellulosic feedstocks into ethanol without the need to add any enzymes, this reduces the cost by up to 50% compared to current solutions. By integrating our technology at existing ethanol plants, we take advantage of existing infrastructure, widely available feedstock, and can reduce the amount of land required for biofuel production. We also plan to convert the CO2 produced from fermentation to ethanol, further decreasing the amount of land required. Ethanol can be used as an alternative to gasoline or upgraded to higher value fuels and chemicals, such as sustainable aviation fuel and ethylene.
