At the heart of CenAlliance is our founder, Shaun Danquah, whose work is rooted in both academic research and lived experience. Shaun holds a PhD focused on counter-extremism, exploring the nuanced distinction between engaging with communities and truly communicating with them — a principle that guides our approach. With over 20 years of experience working to drive meaningful change, Shaun has consistently centred communities in the process, ensuring their voices shape the solutions that impact them. Our work also acknowledges the interconnectedness of social and environmental justice. Urban ecology plays a crucial role in this, as it reveals how environmental issues — from climate change to waste colonialism — directly affect marginalised communities.
