About Center for Applied Isotope Studies
The Center for Applied Isotope Studies (CAIS) is committed to superior service, research excellence, and STEM education/outreach. Our scientists are experts in chemistry, geology, marine science, physics, archaeology, ecology and biology. This means that CAIS researchers are able to effectively collaborate in research programs and participate in method development for myriad industrial and academic applications. CAIS is an integrated team of core facilities under the Office of Research at the University of Georgia. Our mission is: -To provide the highest quality analytical services to researchers in academia, industry, and government in order to facilitate integrative research, inform science-based decision making, and promote the future growth of UGA as a leader in applied STEM fields. -To foster scientific excellence and enhance the global reputation of UGA as a research institution through original research and scholarship in diverse fields of research. -To prepare UGA students for high levels of achievement in STEM fields by developing instructional materials and providing students with training, research experience, and academic support. -To promote public engagement in STEM fields by developing outreach programs and educational materials that address the specific needs of the state of Georgia and its local communities. -To work in partnership with UGA’s Department of Anthropology and Laboratory of Archaeology to establish UGA as a leader in the archaeological sciences.
