About Center for Human Rights
The Center for Human Rights, Addis Abba University, was established in 2008 to promote the multidisciplinary study of human rights within the Addis Ababa University system.. The Center is one of the leading human rights Academic Institutions in Ethiopia that has been engaged in multidisciplinary human rights teaching, research and community service. It has been offering a Masters of Arts in Human Rights as well as a joint PhD in Peace, Security, Federalism and Human Rights (the latter jointly with the Institute of Peace and Security Studies and the Center for Federal Studies). CHR has also been providing, as part of its mandate to provide community services, legal aid to those who cannot afford to pay for such services through its Access to Justice Project. In all its activities, the CHR has aimed at institutionalizing a culture of human rights in Ethiopia by addressing gaps and challenges.
