Dr. Catalano is very passionate about offering a new paradigm in health care. One of prevention and achieving optimal health through natural and holistic methods. Across all of our treatment protocols and modalities, our functional approach recognizes the interconnection between the systems of the body. We focus on underlying causes, healthy lifestyle changes, and treatments that increase the body’s ability to achieve optimum function and prevent disease. We are an integrative practice and we do believe that at times traditional prescriptions and medical therapies may be appropriate and necessary, but we are always looking for the safest and most effective approach to healing, rejuvenation and prevention. Doctors and scientist used to think our genes were locked and couldn’t be influenced. We now know through the study of Epigenetics, that this is untrue.Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression caused by certain base pairs in DNA, or RNA, being "turned off" or "turned on" again. We now can “turn off” bad genes, and “turn on” good ones through diet, exercise, nutrition, and environment. New genetic and other functional testing can give us accurate information to optimize these gene expressions with the best diet, nutrition and exercise programs. Our individualized, integrative approach to health care recognizes that every person is biochemically and genetically unique and accordingly, no two people will respond to treatment in the same way or in the same timeframe. We work with each patient to implement treatment programs that work towards achieving that patient’s individual health objectives.
