About Center for Latter-day Saint Arts
The Center for Latter-day Saint Arts is an independently-funded nonprofit organization that fosters, promotes and studies the artistic and cultural production of its faith tradition. The Center for Latter-day Saint Arts has a three-fold mission: to display and perform LDS art in New York City and elsewhere; to publish scholarship and criticism about LDS art for a wider public; and to establish a comprehensive archive of LDS arts, from 1830 to the present. The Center seeks to organize, produce and promote events, including: festivals, performances, publications, grants, scholarships, endowments, symposia and exhibitions. Our programming fosters in-depth and inclusive understanding of a rich, cultural tradition. With proven success, the Center actively finds ways to be a resource to its stakeholders and audiences through thoughtful and engaging digital content. One such example is our weekly Come, Follow Me (Art Companion), now in its third year; a monthly studio podcast; and thriving social media platforms. In all things, the Center seeks to bring more and more global art into our lives. Founded by Richard Bushman and Glen Nelson in 2016, and supported by a tremendous Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Executive Committee and other committees, the Center gathers influencers, scholars, artists and educators for rigorous discussion and gathering. Our priorities include finding global artists of the LDS faith tradition, both past and present? What are their stories? What are their works? What do they mean? The Center seeks to share and educate, including general education regarding why art matters and how it can enrich a life. Finally, the Center for Latter-day Saint Arts seeks to be an asset to the Church and our global culture. We realize how much more is possible, how much remains undiscovered, undocumented and unshared. Join with us to build culture, share vision, and create home.
