About Central California Asthma Collaborative
The mission of the Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is to develop a network of stakeholders who work in a regional capacity to improve the health and quality of life for San Joaquin Valley residents affected by asthma and other respiratory conditions. Together we are working reduce the burden of asthma in the Central Valley. CCAC is also pursuing opportunities to increase Valley resources and establish long-term stability for the Collaborative and for individual county Asthma Coalitions by leading local fundraising efforts and pursuing regional grant funding. CCAC is working on the development and implementation of multi-component child asthma education and intervention programs, with an emphasis on developing partnerships with schools and parent organizations in underserved communities throughout the San Joaquin Valley. CCAC is also fostering and promoting the collection and dissemination of relevant asthma-related resources to CCAC-affiliated organizations and the public at large. CCAC continues its efforts in developing culturally appropriate health delivery tools and educational programs with an emphasis on the relationship between asthma and Valley air quality. CCAC tracks current asthma research to further the awareness and prevention of respiratory health disparities in the San Joaquin Valley. CCAC participates in regional research opportunities, including projects designed to (a) identify environmental factors and interventions to address the high rates of childhood asthma morbidity in the Central San Joaquin Valley, (b) identify barriers and solutions to improve access to health services for under-insured residents. CCAC also facilitates the implementation of a database registry utilizing innovative technologies for the collection and exchange of health and environmental information to better inform physicians and improve the quality of care for asthma patients throughout the region.
