As an agent of the Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (CMMPA), CMPAS operates as a project-oriented agency. CMPAS provides a wide range of services including strategic management, long-term power supply planning and procurement, energy market scheduling services, transmission ownership, project development and administration, utility accounting and finance support, and engineering. CMPAS affords municipal members opportunities to participate in joint-action projects that will enable them to sustain the competitive operation of their municipal electric utilities. CMPAS’s project-oriented business model delivers price-competitive power portfolios and utility system solutions that keep public power utilities strong. Project by project, CMPAS works in the best interest of each member and provides strategic advice so utilities can choose what is best for their municipality. Municipal electric utility members include Blue Earth, Fairfax, Glencoe, Granite Falls, Janesville, Kasson, Kenyon, Mountain Lake, Sleepy Eye, Springfield, and Windom. The agency also partners with public power affiliates to lower and share costs of utility projects. Consultative Role As a strategic and fiduciary advisor, CMPAS delivers unbiased, independent portfolio system solutions that best serve the customers of municipal utilities.
