About Centre d'Iniciatives Solidàries Ángel Olaran
CIS Angel Olaran is an NGOD, a non-profit development organization with NIF G-25691189. It was constituted in 2009 and registered in the Registre de Fundacions de la Generalitat de Catalunya with the number 2596. Its address is in the Av. of the Canal, 7, of Mollerussa (Lleida). The Foundation supports the social and humanitarian work of Father Angel Olaran in Wukro, Ethiopia, by raising financial resources to help orphans and those most in need. Àngel Pujol was the founder and president of the Foundation until he died unexpectedly in January 2015. He was an entrepreneur for the companies of the Pujol Group until after consolidating and expanding it, one day he stopped building prefabricated concrete to dedicate himself body and soul to building life hopes helping Father Olaran. His brother, Josep Maria Pujol is the current president continuing his legacy. Pujol, who is the general manager of the company Prefabricados Pujol -family company-, has experience in the world of cooperation, since it was from 1995 to December 2007 the president of the Fundació Lleida Solidària, NGO of the Col legi d'Aparelladors de Lleida. Thanks to his involvement and that of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, collaborators and donors, Father Olaran’s work in Wukro, Ethiopia, continues to be assisted. Father Angel Olaran is the soul of St. Mary’s Mission and cares for the most vulnerable people. They affectionately nicknamed him 'Abba Melaku' (Father Angel). «The street is my church and the houses of the people are my altars», he proclaims. Thanks to its great social and organizational work it has transformed Wukro (35,000 inhabitants) from an accumulation of refugees from the area’s civil wars into a city with a multitude of associations (peasants, women, war wounded, teachers, AIDS patients, etc.)social support structures to alleviate the most serious problems: foster care for thousands of orphans, care for the elderly, etc.
