About Centro de Estudos Humanísticos da Universidade do Minho
The Centre for Humanistic Studies of the University of Minho (CEHUM) was founded in 1994 and represents the continuity and adaptation to new contexts of the Centre for Portuguese Studies (CEP), founded in 1980. The CEHUM comprises the research carried out within the sphere of the different Departments of the Institute of Arts and Humanities (ILCH) in the research lines of Literature, Language Sciences, Philosophy and Culture. Its main goals are the development and disclosure of transdisciplinary research in the fields of Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Cultural Studies and Philosophy focusing in particular on the study of the Portuguese language, literature and culture, and their relationships with other cultures, languages and literatures. In order to attain these goals, CEHUM has a specialised and constantly updated library on Human Sciences and edits two collections of monographs, which aim at publicising the research of its members (collections Hespérides and Poliedro), as well as an annual specialised magazine – Diacrítica (Literature, Linguistics and Philosophy and Culture series), among other publications.
