Coimbra Hospital and Universitary Centre (CHUC) is the biggest Portuguese hospital having a comprehensive research, teaching and patient-centred care approach. Our mission is to deliver high-quality clinical care in a context of pre and postgraduate training with a strong focus on research, scientific knowledge and innovation. We offer comprehensive care across all major medical and surgical specialities. CHUC´s excellence centres ensure high standard healthcare services. (e.g. between 1992 and 2014 we performed 1,114 liver transplants). CHUC represents a major part of Coimbra Health Ecosystem. The Centro Region of Portugal, with Coimbra as a strategic core, is one of 32 reference sites for active and healthy ageing recognized by the European Union.
