The House of Charles Ellner is located in Epernay, the very heart of the superb wine-producing region. Back in 1905, Charles Emile Ellner, the founder of the house, began acquiring small vineyards in Epernay’s surroundings while he was working as a “riddler” in a well-known champagne house at the start of his career. This is when started his adventure in the world of Champagne. His independent nature and his passion for wine led him not only to grow his own vineyard but also to vinify his own wines. Then, little by little he started selling his production to some private customers. From the start he set up his business as a grower and a producer, which was a precarious occupation at the time. He was admirably assisted by his only son Pierre, thanks to whose energy and foresight the house made a remarkable headway. Today Champagne Ellner is still an independent family business run by Jean-Pierre Ellner, third generation and grandson of the founder of the House. Now, the fourth generation with his daughters and nephews are also involved in the company. Always concerned about working in the respect of tradition, the family has also achieved the perfect association with very modern tools, in accordance with today’s needs. The vinification is done in our new winery of stainless vats but also partially in our old oak barrels. All the process is done in our cellars of Epernay, from the harvest to the delivery to our customers and our many aboard partners.
