About Charitable Foundation Starenki

Starenki Charitable Foundation has been helping elderly people in Ukraine since 2017 when 5 dedicated women founded the initiative. We aim to help elderly people who are left alone without children or any relatives and have a low income (up to $135) by providing them with basic food packages and hygiene kits delivered by volunteers and state social workers. In addition, we deliver warm kits for seniors who need them the most to get through the winter with less harm to their health. Since elderly people who have no children or relatives are isolated and feel lonely, we also create possibilities such as tea parties for them to socialize among people of their age and together with younger generations. Within the years 2020-2022, the Foundation expanded its help to the elderly people from 7 cities to 12 regions and 60 settlements. The team intends to grow the volunteering community and keep on helping more seniors. Our growth and development significantly owes to our donors — private and corporate — whose contributions confirm the high level of the Foundation’s transparency which remains our fundamental principle. According to the United Nations Ukraine Humanitarian Response Plan, released in February 2023, almost 4 million elderly people in Ukraine are in need. It means that there is still a lot of work to be done for us. Therefore, we constantly need support from donors, volunteers and people who are willing to spread the word about Starenki.
