About Charles Knowles Design, Architects

We listen and we hear. The practice strives to ensure that each project is an original interpretation for the client of site, brief and budget. We have not set out to specialise in any particular building type or style, as the emphasis is on high quality architecture and we enjoy having a broad range of projects in the office; animal welfare centres, master plans, resorts, schools, shops, offices, private residential houses, and furniture design. We are passionate about harnessing the qualities of natural light, fresh air, views and sunshine to bring joy to all aspects of our buildings as well as the people and creatures who inhabit them. These qualities inform our approach to sustainability within our projects, where carefully considered building orientation has been combined with the use of solar thermal heating, solar power, passive solar design and ground source heating and cooling as well as the use of sustainable materials We relish the creation of pleasant outside space and have a strong focus on the relationship between buildings themselves and their surroundings. We believe in the inventive use of materials and technology and seek to involve all project stakeholders in the design process. Our projects often combine traditional and new construction methods and we have found success using the valuable specialist resources and knowledge of all team members; users, makers, builders and craftsmen to ensure successful projects.
