Charlie Allen is one of London’s premier bespoke tailors and he has over 25 years’ experience in menswear and design. One of the standard bearers in contemporary English men’s tailoring, Charlie produces classic suits which have quality and discretion at their core, but which incorporate a fresh visual approach and even a certain playfulness. In contrast to the stiff, structured and uniform cut of so many modern suits, Charlie prefers a softer and more understated feel — a look that’s favoured by a broad clientele, ranging from Lloyds underwriters to sportsmen, rock stars and politicians, indeed to anyone with a sharp eye for tradition and style. In his shop on Islington’s Upper Street, Charlie Allen offers a full bespoke tailoring service where each suit is a commissioned piece of work, designed according a customer’s precise predilections (with full advice from Charlie). Each suit is completely hand-made, right down to the button holes, and is a unique garment, perfectly fitted to the customer, which will last a lifetime and can even be passed down through the generations.
